About T2 Tea
T2 is an Australian specialty tea retailer founded by Maryanne Shearer and Jan O’Connor, with its first store opening on 1 July 1996 on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, Melbourne. The brand built its reputation on bold, colourful packaging, theatrical black-walled stores, in-store tastings, and an adventurous assortment of blends alongside teaware. Unilever acquired the business in 2013, when T2 recorded sales of almost $57 million. Unilever later sold most of its tea portfolio to CVC Capital Partners, a deal completed in July 2022 under the name LIPTON Teas and Infusions. T2 now trades in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
